India Storm Into Asian Games 2026 Women’s Kabaddi Final After 48-24 Win Over Nepal

The Indian women's kabaddi team is one win away from another Asian Games gold medal. India defeated Nepal 48-24 in the women's semi-final on September 25, continuing their unbeaten run and securing a place in the gold-medal match. It has been a perfect campaign so far for the Indian women:

Nepal Could Not Stop India's Run

Nepal entered the semi-final after progressing from Group B, but India quickly established control of the contest. Four Straight Wins on the Road to the Final

India's journey to the final has included three group-stage victories followed by the semi-final win over Nepal.

Match 1,  India vs Bangladesh

India opened their campaign with a 42-21 victory over Bangladesh. The win gave captain Pushpa Rana and her team a strong start to their Asian Games campaign. India controlled the contest and began their title defence with two points in the group stage.

Match 2, India vs Iran

India then faced Iran in their second group match. The Indian women produced another strong performance, defeating Iran 37-23. The result was particularly important because Iran has been one of India's major opponents in Asian Games women's kabaddi. India had also defeated Iran in the women's gold-medal match at Hangzhou 2022.

Match 3, India vs Japan

India completed their Group A campaign against hosts Japan. The defending champions produced their biggest group-stage victory, beating Japan 50-25. India led 32-13 at half-time before finishing the match with a 25-point victory. The result gave India three wins from three and confirmed their place at the top of Group A.

Semi-Final, India vs Nepal

The knockout stage brought Nepal into India's path. India once again produced a convincing performance, winning 48-24 and moving into the gold-medal match. That makes it four wins in four matches for the Indian women's team.

India Have Reached the Gold-Medal Match

The win over Nepal means India's campaign will now end with a fight for the Asian Games 2026 women's kabaddi gold medal. There is no bronze-medal match in the Asian Games kabaddi format. The two losing semi-finalists receive bronze medals, while the two winners advance directly to the gold-medal match. India have therefore already secured a medal. But the target now is clear Gold. 

Pushpa Rana Leads India's Title Defence

India's women's team is being led by captain Pushpa Rana at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The Indian squad has combined experienced players with a strong defensive and raiding unit throughout the tournament. India's unbeaten run has also demonstrated their consistency across all four matches, with victories against Bangladesh, Iran, Japan and Nepal. The team's final challenge will come on September 26, when India take the court for the women's gold-medal match. The official schedule lists the final for 9:30 AM IST.
